Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Genetic architecture studies for heat and
moisture stress tolerance in maize (Zea mays L.)” carried out. Exploitation of heterosis
and assessment of combining ability by using half diallel analysis over the three
environments was done at the Main Maize Research Station, Anand Agricultural
University, Godhra during 2016-17. The experimental material comprised of ten inbred
lines, 45 hybrids and two standard check hybrids viz., GAYMH 1 and HQPM 1 were
used to evaluate and followed Randomized Complete Block Design with three
replications under three environments (E1, E2 and E3). The observations were recorded
for 20 characters viz., initial plant stand, days tasselling, tassel blasting, days silking,
Anthesis Silking Interval (ASI), leaf rolling, leaf senescence, plant height, ear height,
days to brown husk, final plant stand, ear length, ear girth, kernel rows per ear, kernels
per row, shelling percentage, 100 kernel weight, kernel yield per plant, kernel moisture
and proline content.
