dc.description.abstractThe research entitled “Development and evaluation of formulations of Lecanicillium lecanii (Zimm.) Zare and Games against Myzus persicae (Sulzer)” was carried out at Bio control laboratory, Department of Entomology, Kittur Rani Chanamma College of Horticulture (KRCCH) Arabhavi, UHS, Bagalkot during 2017-18. The objectives of present investigation were development and laboratory evaluations of formulations, virulence of formulations of L. lecanii and evaluation of their effectiveness in controlling M. persicae in field condition. Among the 26 formulations screened, the formulations of ground nut and sesamum oil recorded highest mean mortality of 96.66 per cent followed by sunflower oil (95%), coconut oil (94.15%) and mustard oil (93.33%). However most of the formulations of L. lecanii developed were recorded more than 81.50% mean mortality of M. persicae under laboratory conditions. The virulence of four selected formulations of L. lecanii were highest in the sesamum and groundnut oil based formulations followed by groundnut oil in combination with rice grain based formulation at different storage condition and storage period. The storage of selected formulations in refrigerator and mud pot filled with wet sand recorded the highest mortality of M. persicae compared to storage under room temperature and incubator conditions after three months of storage. Further, selected formulations of L. lecanii were evaluated against M. persicae under semi field and field conditions. Among the selected formulations, the maximum per cent reduction M. persicae was recorded in sesamum oil followed by groundnut oil, combination of groundnut oil with rice grain, rice grain alone and commercial formulation of L. lecanii. However, Imidacloprid and NSKE treatments recorded highest per cent reduction of M. persicae as compared to selected formulations of L. lecanii. Considering the cost of cultivation and the gross returns in different treatments, the benefit cost ratio (BCR) and net returns was calculated. Among the different treatments, Imidacloprid recorded highest net returns and benefit cost ratio while, sesamum oil formulation of L. lecanii recorded highest net returns and B:C ratio as compared to other selected formulations of L. lecanii.en_US
