An investigation was carried out at College of Horticulture, UHS Campus, Bengaluru during rabi season of 2019-20. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with eight treatments replicated thrice. Results of the experiment revealed that application of 100 per cent N equivalent through poultry manure recorded significantly taller plants height and more number of branches per plant at all stages of crop growth. Besides, the same treatment recorded significantly maximum yield (13.00 t ha-1 ), root length (15.5 cm), root diameter (3.86 cm), core diameter (1.60 cm) and cortex diameter (1.63 cm). Results of the soil analysis revealed that the total soluble salts (0.45 d Sm-1 ), available nitrogen (313.63 kg ha-1 ), available phosphorous (35.01 P2O5 kg ha-1 ), exchangable calcium (6.45 cmol(p+) kg-1 ). Total bacterial counts (26.00 X 106 CFU g -1 soil), total fungi (32.00 X 104 CFU g -1 soil), and total actinomycetes counts (50.00 X 104 CFU g -1 soil) were significantly highest in the soils which received 100 per cent N equivalent through poultry manure. Uptake of total nitrogen (128.50 kg ha-1 ), phosphorus (22.70 kg ha-1 ) and potassium (137.55 kg ha-1 ) were significantly higher in the soils which received 100 per cent N equivalent through poultry manure. Further, higher net returns (Rs. 421818 with B:C 1.84:1) were realized with the same treatment.en_US
