dc.description.abstract | Agriculture plays a vital role in Indian economy with over 58.00 per cent of rural households depending on agriculture as their principal means of livelihood. It is still the occupation of Indian workforce and contributes 15.8 per cent to GDP of the nation. Realizing the importance of agriculture sector, various schemes have been launched by government since independence in the interest of farmers of the country. Most of the farmers in developing countries live in rural areas and are in most cases less aware about the latest agricultural technologies, government schemes and services for agricultural development. The need for timely access to information for decision making in agriculture and allied sectors are one of the significant factors for the agricultural development. | en_US |
