Abstract
Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) a member of the order: Tubiflorae, family:
Pedaliaceae is recognized as one of the oldest oilseed crops in the world. The crop is affected
by a number of pests and diseases of which stem and root rot incited by Macrophomina
phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. is an economically important disease. Considering the importance of
the disease, the present study on various aspects of the disease was carried out in Department
of Plant Pathology, B. A. Collage of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand-388
110 during 2016 and 2017 for developing an effective and economical management strategies
for the disease.
