An experiment entitled ‘Standardization of fertigation and irrigation schedule in mango cv. Baneshan under north-eastern transitional zone of Karnataka’ was conducted at College of Horticulture and farmer’s field in Bidar, Karnataka during 2018 to 2020. The experiments were laid out in a randomized block design and observations on growth, biochemical parameters in leaf, soil and leaf nutrient uptake, soil moisture dynamics, flowering, fruiting, yield and quality attributes were recorded. The results revealed that, among the different fertigation treatments, the plants applied with 100 per cent of RDF through fertigation (T2) recorded the maximum mean values for tree height (5.01 m), canopy volume (98.84 m3 ), leaf area index (4.09), total chlorophyll (4.10, 4.46 and 3.56 mg g-1 fresh weight), nitrate reductase activity (26.69, 34.44 and 30.43 μg NO2 g-1 h -1 fresh weight) during pre-flowering, flowering and fruit development stages, respectively. The plants in the same treatment (T2) also registered the maximum fruit set (6.77 %), average fruit weight (361.78 g), number of fruits per tree (63.04) and the maximum fruit yield (23.33 kg/tree and 9.33 t/ha). However, the economic assessment revealed that the B:C ratio was marginally higher (1: 2.79) in T3 treatment (75 per cent of RDF application through fertigation) in comparison with B:C ratio of T2 (1: 2.73), while the control plants recorded a B:C ratio of 1: 1.67. The studies on water requirement revealed that among the various treatments, plants applied with 80 per cent of evaporation replenishment through drip irrigation system (T6) recorded the maximum soil moisture content and low soil temperature regimes across different soil depths (10, 20 and 30 cm) during January to May months. The plants in T6 also recorded the maximum canopy spread, nitrate reductase activity with the mean maximum number of panicles per tree (962.10), maximum fruit set (4.19 %), number of fruits per tree (56.60) with the maximum mean fruit yield (21.25 kg/tree and 8.48 t/ha) when compared to control plants (12.49 kg/tree and 4.99 t/ha) under rainfed situation.
