The Present investigation was conducted in the laboratories of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering and Department of Horticulture (Fruit & Fruit Technology). The accessions of mango cv. Langra were collected from Horticulture Garden Sabour, Bhagalpur, State Guest House (Patna) and Pusa (Samastipur). Sixteen accessions of mango cv. Langra were selected for morphological and molecular characterization by using morphological traits of IPGRI (2006) and forty SSR markers. The result revealed that accessions of cv. Langra were showing variability in morphological characteristics with producing spreading tree growth habit, broadly pyramidal, spherical and semi-circular crown shape with attainment of oblong to lanceolate leaf blade. Dark green to green colour leaves with acuminate leaf apex and acute to obtuse leaf base shape were also present among the accessions. Maximum leaf blade length and width were obtained in Kala Maldah (Patna). The generated dendrogram from the molecular analysis (UPGMA cluster analysis) placed all 16 accessions into 3 main clusters. Safed Maldah (Pusa) of cluster II and Safed Lucknow of cluster III had highest genetic distance with dissimilarity index 0.66 for the studied primers. PIC varied from 0.12 to 0.38 with an average of 0.32. SSR markers revealed accessions of Langra exhibit a high level of variability and whatsoever its accession cultivated throughout Bihar is not pure clone. Exploitation of this natural variability through selection of superior clones of this commercial mango cultivar shall be undertaken in future. Further, these accessions represent potential for any future breeding work aimed at producing high quality juicy mango hybrids adapted to the local agro-climatic condition.en_US
