Abstract
A field experiment was conducted in kharif 2015 at research farm
Department of Soil Science and Agtil. Chemistry, College of Agriculture,Badnapur
using red gram as a test crop to study the “Influence of graded levels of potassium on
growth, yield and quality of red gram.” The experiment was laid out on Vertisols
with six treatment combination, replicated four times in randomized block design.
The treatment consists of Ti Absolute control (No fertilizer application), T2 RDF
(25:50:25 N, P205 and K20 kg ha1), T3 (25 kg N+50 kg P205 + 15 kg K20 ha4), T4
(25kgN+50kg P205 + 30 kg K20 ha4), T5 (25kgN+50kg P2Os + 45 kg K20 ha4), T6
(25kgN+50kg P2Os + 60 kg K20 ha4). The results emerged out clearly indicated that
various growth parameters like plant height, number of pods, number of nodules,
fresh weight of nodules, total biomass production and dry matter and seed yield was
increased due to application of potassium. It was inferred from the results that
application of 25 kg N ha50 kg P205 ha1 and 30 kg K20 ha 1 found superior over
RDF( 25:50:25 N, P2Os and K20 kg ha'1) application in red gram.
The K application showed synergistic effects with other nutrients (N,
P). Soil fertility was also found to be improved due to application of potassium to red
gram.
