dc.description.abstractThe study was focused on ‘Designing Capacity Building e-modules on Gender Equity Sensitization of Development Functionaries’. An integrated Modular approach was followed to deliver the content. A total of five modules were developed for coherent learning on the topic. The sub topics for the modules included ‘Gender Inequality Issues facing Rural India’, ‘Gender Analysis for Equitable Development’, ‘Moving towards a Gender Just Society’, ‘Role of e-PRIs in Mainstreaming Women into Development’ and ‘Gender Sensitization related Glossary’. A panel of 15 experts was selected to test the appropriateness of each module based on an appropriateness scale. The methodology comprised of four phases namely design phase, development phase, validation phase and development of tools for data collection. The design phase included selection of users, selection of media, Selection of topics and selection of format. The development phase included Script development, Story boarding and Screen development. The validation phase involved inspection and approval of the material by the content experts. The last phase was devoted to development of tools for data collection i.e. Appropriateness scales and Development of Self Assessment tests. Appropriateness scales were used to find pre-delivery appropriateness of the modules, on a three point continuum of Disagree, Neutral and Agree categories. The data was analyzed with the help of frequencies and percentages. Self assessment tests were developed for learners to assess their own performance. For this objective type test items were developed. A separate test for each module along with a score key was developed to enable learners to assess their own performance for each module. The results revealed cent-percent agreement of experts to pre-delivery appropriateness of designed modules along five dimensions i.e. appropriate of content, sequencing and structuring of ideas, integration of multimedia elements and applicability aspects. More than eighty eight percent of the experts were also of the opinion that the module can also be distributed among students and treated as a learning resource. The developed e-modules therefore can be adopted as a self instructional e-resource for selfpaced, independent and interactive learning by development functionaries in Gender Sensitization Workshops and trainings to generate greater awareness regarding Gender Equity and Empowerment issuesen_US
