Abstract
Investigations on biology, population dynamics and varietal screening of aphid, Aphis craccivora on green gram and evaluation of different insecticides against A. craccivora through seed treatment and soil application were carried out at Anand Agricultural University, Anand during kharif, 2017. It was indicative from the studies on biology of A. craccivora on green gram that the average first, second, third and fourth instar nymphal periods were 1.72 ± 0.61, 1.60 ± 0.65, 1.80 ± 0.76 and 1.84 ± 0.75 days, respectively. The total nymphal period was varied from 5 to 10 days with an average of 6.96 ± 1.02 days. The pre-reproductive, reproductive and post-reproductive periods of A. craccivora on green gram were 1.16 ± 0.37, 12.32 ± 2.23 and 1.84 ± 0.69 days, respectively. The female aphid throughout its entire reproductive period produced 34.76 ± 3.67 nymphs at the rate of 2.92 ± 0.66 nymphs/day. The longevity of adult and entire life period were 15.32 ± 2.39 and 22.28 ± 2.54 days, respectively on green gram.
