A field experiment was conducted to study ‘Effect of different spacings and time and level pruning on growth, yield and quality of guava cv. Sardar’, during the year 2012-13 at Department of Fruit Science, Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. The plants at spacing of 6 x 3 m registered significantly highest plant height, number of secondary branches and number of tertiary branches at 5 months after pruning (MAP). Significantly highest N-S and E-W canopy spread was recorded in spacing of 3 × 3 m at 5 MAP. Maximum number of fruit set per plant and number of fruits harvested per plant were recorded in plants of 3 × 3 m spacing, whereas maximum per cent fruit set was noted in 3 × 1.5 m spacing which was on par with spacing of 3 × 3 m and maximum yield was noted in closer spacing of 2 × 1 m. Maximum TSS was recorded in fruits of closer spacing of 3 × 1.5 m spacing and higher ascorbic acid was found in fruits harvested from plants of 6 × 6 m spacing. Maximum number of secondary and tertiary branches were recorded in T1 (pruning performed during first week of April - first week of August - first week of December), whereas highest N-S canopy spread was recorded in T3 (pruning performed during first week of May - first week of September - first week of January) after III pruning cycle. Among different pruning level L1 (plants pruned with 25 per cent of shoot growth) recorded higher values for plant height, N-S and E-W canopy spread. Interactions also give good result with respect to vegetative growth. Among the pruning levels maximum yield tons per ha was recorded in L1 (plants pruned with 25 per cent shoot growth) and in interactions T2L1 (plants pruned with 25 per cent shoot growth during third week of April - third week of August - third week of December) recorded maximum yield per ha.en_US
