An investigation was carried out at tbs instructional farm attached to the College of Agriculture, Vellayani during the period from 16th May 1974 to 13th August 1974 to study the effect of graded doses of nitrogen and different openings on three varieties of sunflower. The varieties tried were EC.60413, £0.66414 and Sunrise selection, the spacings studied were 30 x 20 cm 50 x 30 cm and 30 x 40 cm Nitrogan levels tried were 40# 80 and 120 kg per ha. The experiment was laid out in a 3 factorial experiment with two replications. The higher order interactions VSH and VSH2 were partially confounded in replication 1 and 2 respectively. The results of the study are summarised belowen_US
