Abstract
The research project was undertaken to study the investment behaviour of Punjab
Agricultural University personnel and to ascertain the factors which have a bearing on it.
The study was conducted by taking two departments from each college of the main campus
in Ludhiana including both teaching and non-teaching personnel. For the purpose of
achieving the objectives, a non-disguised structured questionnaire was used to attain
primary data. The study made use of various factors like profile of the respondents,
monthly savings, investment alternatives and agencies which influence investment
decisions. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean score and chi-square test. It has been
found that traditional tools of investment like insurance, provident fund and bank deposits
are preferred. Further they are averse to risk and prefer safety while choosing from among
the various available investment alternatives
