Abstract
Cefoperazone, a new semi-synthetic third generation, piperazin β- lactam cephalosporin, possesses broad spectrum activity against a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Use of non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are frequently recommended with antibacterials for the treatment of various bacterial infections accompanied by fever and other inflammatory conditions in animals. Meloxicam, an oxicam derivative, is a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor NSAID having anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Pharmacokinetics of an antibacterial drug may change when administered with anti-inflammatory drug in animals.
