Abstract
A growth experiment of 168 days (24 weeks) duration was carried out on twenty four buffalo heifer calves to study the comparative effect of feeding compound concentrate mixture with bypass protein or without bypass protein. The two treatments were T1: control concentrate mixture without bypass protein and T2: concentrate mixture with bypass protein in which formaldehyde treated guar bhardo, groundnut extraction and rapeseed extraction were used as sources of by pass protein. Individual completely randomized design was followed. The growing buffalo heifer calves were fed as per ICAR (1998) feeding standards to meet nutrient requirement in terms of DM, DCP and TDN. Two kg of green grass was provided daily to all the calves to meet vitamin A requirement.
