Abstract
The present study entitled "Price Dynamics and Extent of Market
Integration of Castor in India" was carried out in the major markets of castor. To
achieve the specific objectives of the study major three castor producing states were
selected purposively on the basis of their share in castor production of the country.
The selected states were Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh as they contributed
about more than 95 percent in national production of castor. Furthermore, on the basis
of maximum quantity of arrivals, three markets from each state were selected.
Therefore, total nine markets namely Thara, Deesa and Patan from Gujarat,
Sumerpur, Nohar and Phalodi from Rajasthan and Adoni, Kurnool and Yemmiganur
from Andhra Pradesh were selected for detailed study. The relevant data was
collected from different government sources for a period of fifteen years i.e. 2005-06
to 2019-20. The major analytical tools like compound annual growth rate, Cuddy
Della Valle index, 12 month moving average method, Augmented Dicky Fuller test,
Johansen co-integration test, Granger causality test, vector error correction model and
Markov chain analysis were used for the present study.
