dc.description.abstract30 Mysuru mallige local collections were evaluated in randomized complete block design to study the variability, correlation and molecular diversity at College of Horticulture, Mysuru (Karnataka) during 2018-19. Analysis of variance revealed that highly significant difference observed among genotypes for all traits except length of the leaf. Very high genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient variation (PCV) were observed for bud length, bud breadth, number of whorls, number of petals, pedicel length, length of corolla tube, length of filament, length of style, length of stigma and flower bud weight. Very high heritability coupled with very high genetic advance as per cent over mean was recorded for the characters viz., bud length, bud breadth, flower diameter, calyx length, number of calyx teeth, number of whorls, number of petals, petal size, pedicel length, length of the corolla tube, number of stamen, length of anther, length of the filament, length of the style, length of the stigma and flower bud weight.Flower bud weight positively and significantly associated with breadth of the bud, number of calyx teeth, number of whorls, number of petals, flower diameter, number of stamen, fragrance and length of the stigma. Path analysis revealed that, highest positive direct effects on flower bud weight were shown by number of whorls. Diversity analysis of 30Mysuru mallige local collections was carried out by using 10 SSR primers. Dendrogram revealed two major clusters. Cluster 1 was the biggest cluster containing sixteen genotypes and cluster 2 was the smallest cluster consisting of fourteen genotypes. The similarity between all the genotypes was 92 per cent indicating that they were evolved from same ancestor.en_US
