Abstract
“Think like a wise man but communicate in the language of the
people” –W. B. Yeats
Today's world is an 'information society.' Information is increasingly
being used in many facets of human activity. Educational technology
began with chalk and blackboard and has progressed to include the most
advanced expert system with multimedia that incorporates a variety of
media combinations accessible in communication. The world is witnessing
a revolution in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which is
resulting in the rapid and accurate transmission of messages from source
to recipient. Dennis Stevenson's report for the UK government in 1997
was the first to use the term “information and communication technology".
ICT is defined as the integration of information technology (IT) with media
broadcasting technologies, audio/video processing and transmission, and
telephony.
