Abstract
Cryosurgical oophorectomy (group – I; 6 bitches) and conventional surgical oophorectomy (group – II; 6 bitches) following standard midline laparotomy were compared in a clinical trial on twelve healthy bithces. The ovaries were cryofrozen to –20o C by liquid nitrogen spray under cryogaurd protection employing double freezethaw cycles. The cryosurgical oophorectomy was bit quicker (31.53 ± 0.9 minutes) as compared to conventional surgical oophorectomy (34.24 ± 0.64 minutes).
