Abstract
This study on the determination of residues of carbaryl
and endosulfan on/in mango fruits is in partial fulfilment of
the M. Sc. (Agri.) Course which VALAND VIT'l'HALBHAI MAGANBHAI has
taken up under the direction of Dr. Shah A. R., Professor and
Head, Department of Entomology, N. M. College of Agriculture,
Navsari.
Chemioal and micro bio-assay of residues of recommended
insecticides, viz., carbaryl and endo.ulfan which were used
at the concentration of 0.2 per cent and 0.075 per cen~respectivel~
as schedule of spraying in 1976-77 and only one spraying
in 1977-78 as a part of insect pest management programme in
mango crop have been carried out.
In the chemical assay the residues of carbaryl on the
mango fruits found immediately after the last spraying was 58.15
ppm in 1976-77, and the same after 3rd, 7th and 25th days were
37.22, 18.49 and 10.30 ppm respectively. Similarly, it was 52.56
ppm as initial deposit in 1977-78 and the same after 3rd, 7th
and 19th day of one spraying were 38.00, 20.50 and 8.80 ppm
respectively. 'thus the reduction percentage of carbaryl residue
found were 36.00, 50.32 and 65.71 per cent in 1976-77 and 27.70,
61.00 and 83.26 per cent in the year 1977-78 on 3rd, 7th and
25th/19th day after spraying of oarbaryl respectively. The half
life of carbaryl residues wes· 3.19 and 3.00 days in 1976-77
and 1977-7.8 respectively
