dc.description.abstractIndia is an agrarian country and small ruminants play a vital role in rural economy. Goat population in India is 148.88 million; the country stands first in the world in goat population. The country ranks first in goat milk production with share of 32.18 percent (6.09 million tonne) of world goat milk production and rank second in meat production with production of 504501 tonne meat. The share of goats to the total milk yield and meat production in India was recorded as 3.00 percent and 13.53 percent respectively.en_US
