dc.description.abstract | The present investigation entitled "Effect of accelerated ageing on seed quality parameters in onion” was carried out during 2012 to 2014 at, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, B. A. College of Agriculture, AAU, Anand (Gujarat). Onion (Allium cepa L.) is a bulbous vegetable crop of family Amarilidaceae. In the world, India is the second largest producer of onion, next only to China. It is being grown both in kharif and rabi in India. It occupies an area of 10.51 lakh hectare, with production of 168.13 lakh tons and productivity 16 metric tons per hectare. Gujarat is the leading state for onion cultivation having an area of 0.28 lakh hectares and production about 704.38 metric tones.
