dc.description.abstract | A field experiment was conducted during 1978-79 at the Agricultural College Farm, Vellayani, Kerala, to study the effect of different methods of planting (pit, ridge and furrow) and sizes of planting materials (small cormels of 15-25 g, size, medium cormels of 35-45 g size, large cornrts of 55-65 g size and corms of 60-70 g size) on the growth and yield of colocasia (Colocasia escufenta (L.) Schott. Among the different methods of planting, furrow method hastened germination and increased the plant height, leaf area, LAI, average weight of corm and total tuber yield. Among the different sizes of planting material, larger size' groups hastened germination and increased the plant height. Average corm weight and total tuber yield were the maximum in the case of medium sized cormels. | en_US |
