Abstract
Investigations were carried out at the Department of Biochemistry and the
Department of Biotechnology, B. A College of Agriculture, A. A. U., Anand to
study the biochemical and molecular characterization of different fourteen sweet
corn (Zea mays L.) genotypes procured from Main Maize Research Station,
Godhara. These genotypes were screened through analysis of proximate
composition for various biochemical parameters, protein analysis through SDSPAGE
electrophoresis, isozymes study, enzyme activity and SSR analysis. Among
maize breeders, there is heightened awareness of necessity for both maintaining
genetic diversity for crop improvement and improving the quality of genetic
resources management.
