Abstract
An investigation was carried out to study the impact of dairy development in
Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, This district was selected because of
implementation of dairy development programmes right fi'om introduction of premium bull
scheme, Key village scheme, Intensive Cattle Development Project and Operation Flood
programme. Further, inspite of having District Cooperative Milk Producers Union and
SUCCCSSfiJi dairy processing plant, still some areas in this district were yet to come under
the canopy of dairy cooperative movement. With all these innate characters of the area,
the critical analysis of findings of the investigation would help to take this as model
district for planning dairy development elsewhere or use this as control model to assess
the level of dairy development wherever similar- conditions exist and the dairy
development programmes are implemented.
