dc.description.abstractIndian mustard [Brassica juncea (Linn.) Czern and Coss], an important oilseed crop, ranks second next to groundnut in India. It yields valuable edible oil and is rich from nutritional point of view. Alternaria blight, caused by four species of Alternaria viz., A. brassicae, A. brassicicola, A. raphani and A. alternata, is an important diseases of cruciferous crops in India. Investigations were carried out to study effective technique for detection of pathogen from seeds, location of pathogen in seed, varietal response in respect of seed-borne nature of the pathogen as well as in vitro and in vivo evaluation of phytoextracts, fungicides and bioagent(s) against this disease.en_US
