Abstract
The present investigation was undertaken with a view to study cost and returns, resource use efficiency, marketing cost, margin and price spread as well as constraints in production and marketing of cabbage crop in North Gujarat by using multistage random sampling design. The study covered 4 talukas, 12 villages and 120 cabbage cultivators (43 marginal, 39 small, 21 medium and 17 large) from Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts. For studying marketing, 5 functionaries from each category of cabbage marketing were randomly selected from Palanpur and Ahmedabad markets. The major analytical tools employed for the study were tabular analysis, cost concept (Cost A, Cost B, Cost C1 and Cost C2) and production function analysis (using SPSS software).
