An experiment entitled “Evaluation of different brinjal (SolanummelongenaL.) grafts for bacterial wilt resistance” was conducted at Research Block, Department of Vegetable Science, COH, Bengaluru, GKVK Post, Karnataka during the year 2018-19. In field experiment, sixteen graft combinations were made to assess growth, yield and to identify the brinjal graft against bacterial wilt over non-grafts (3 check varieties). The minimum number of days taken for germination was recorded in PLR-2 (4.83 days). Solanumtorvum recorded maximum seedling girth at grafting stage (4.36 mm). At 7, 15 DAG (Days After Grafting) and 15 DAT (Days After Transplanting) T1 (ArkaKusumakar on Solanumtorvum) recorded maximum per cent of graft success (99.30%). Among different treatments, T1 (ArkaKusumakar on Solanumtorvum) recorded maximum plant height (84.50 cm). T7 (ArkaKusumakar on Surya) recorded maximum number of leaves (301.83), number of branches (13.25) and flower clusters per plant (31.75). The maximum average fruit weight was recorded in T13 (PLR-2 on Solanummammosum) (131.95 g). ArkaKusumakar on Surya (T7) observed maximum number of fruits per plant (74.23) and yield per hectare (50.69 t/ha). The highest infection was observed in non-grafted plants ArkaKusumakar (check-1) and PLR-2 (check-2). The plants grafted with Solanumtorvum,Solanumindicum, Solanummammosum, ArkaKeshav and Surya showed resistance reaction followed by moderate resistance reaction observed in plants grafted with Solanumkhasianum against bacterial wilt infection and remaining Solanummacrocarponand CO-2 were found susceptible.en_US
