Abstract
Clitoria ternatea L., belonging to the family Fabaceae is a well
known medicinal species used against different ailments, in Indian
systems of Medicines. Two botanical varieties, blue and white flowered,
are mentioned in the Ayurvedic texts of which the white-flowered one is
believed to be therapeutically more active. In the present investigation
an attempt was made to generate information on reproductive biology
of these two varieties. HPTLC chemical profile of both the varieties was
also carried out.
