Abstract
The present investigation entitled “A Study on Stress Management of Employees of J&K Bank in Jammu” was carried out on the basis of primary as well as secondary data.150 respondents (J&K Bank employees) from Jammu district were selected to conduct the study. The present research was descriptive research and convenience sampling tools were used in the present study. Stress is any outside force or event that has an effect on our body or mind. Banking, like other services, has become one of the highly competitive sectors in India. The banking organizations, since the beginning of this decade, have under gone rapid and striking changes like policy changes due to globalisation and liberalisation, increased competition due to the entrance of more private (corporate) sector banks, downsizing, introduction of new technologies, etc. Due to these changes, the employees in the banking sector are experiencing a high level of stress. Stress is unavoidable on the part of the employees as the systems, procedures; techniques are getting complicated with the use of advance technology. Every employee cannot cope with such rapid changes taking place in the jobs. This leads to stress among employees. The present study indicated that the majority of the bank employees feel moderate stress, which is 40 per cent. There is no one in the bank who feels extremely low stress and only 13.3 per cent of employees feels extremely high stress. 53.3 per cent of employees did not have enough time to spend with their family which is due to heavy workload in banks. 80 per cent of employees felt satisfied while working in banks because banks provide good pay scale and organize effective training and motivation programmes. Only 6.7 per cent of employees in the bank who felt frustrated while working in this organization. To overcome and cope up the stress situation within the organization, the employees tend to practice regular meditation, exercise and take leaves from the bank for few days.
