Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Induction of estrus in postpartum anestrus
buffaloes.” Was carried out at private Dairy farms located in and around of Hayathnagar
Division, Ranga Reddy District of Telangana State during the period from October-
2015 to May-2016. The data pertaining to different reproductive disorders of 13620
buffaloes the different causes of incidence of the postpartum anestrum of functional,
infectious and anatomical causes were 65.11, 32.25 and 2.64 per cent respectively. In
the present study the incidence of postpartum anestrus was 19.10 per cent among
different reproductive disorders studied.
The estrus response rate was 83.33, 66.66, 58.33 and 33.33 per cent, respectively
in buffaloes treated with Triu-B, Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control groups. The estrus
response rate was significantly (p< 0.05) higher in buffaloes treated with Triu-B than the
Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control group of buffaloes.
The time taken for induction of estrus was 40.48, 56.59, 72.69 and 747 hours
respectively in Triu-B, Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control groups. Significantly (p<0.01)
shorter time taken for induction of estrus in Triu-B followed by Ovsynch, PGF2α and
Control group of buffaloes.
The duration of estrus was 17.80 ± 1.57, 23.87± 1.75, 23.43 ± 1.87 and28.00 ±
2.48hrs in postpartum anestrus buffaloes treated with Triu-B, Ovsynch, PGF2α and
Control groups, respectively. Significantly (p<0.01) shorter duration of estrus was
recorded in Triu-B, when compared to Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control group respectively.
The observed intensity of estrus was 12.10 ± 0.67, 12.38 ± 0.73, 11.86 ± 1.05
and 10.50± 1.55 points to the Triu-B in buffaloes with Triu-B, Ovsynch, PGF2α and
Control groups respectively. Higher intensity was recorded in Ovsynch and Triu-B than
the PGF2α and Control groups.
Higher number of services per conception were required for Control group (1.50
± 0.77) followed by Ovsynch (1.33 ± 0.86), Triu-B (1.25± 0.16) and PGF2α (1.20 ±
0.79) group of buffaloes.
The conception rates were 80.00, 75.00,71.42 and 50.00 percent in Triu-B,
Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control group of buffaloes respectively. Significantly (p<0.05)
higher conception rate was recorded inTriu-B when compared to Ovsynch, PGF2α and
Control groups.The pregnancy rate was 66.66, 50.00, 41.66 and 16.6 in Triu-B, Ovsynch, PGF2α
and Control group of buffaloes, respectively. Higher pregnancy rate were observed in
Triu-B than the Ovsynch, PGF2α and Control group of buffaloes.
