    Fisheries play a promising role in socio-economic development by providing nutritional security for the Indian population and contribute to the economic upliftment of fisher folks. A total of 15 major 45 medium and over 102 minor rivers of the country provide one of the richest fish resources of the world. It is however 15 major rivers that covers 83% of drainage basin accounts for 85% of surface fold. The Uttar Pradesh have vast potential of aquatic resources and that offer considerable scope for development of inland fisheries and aquaculture.
