    Business analysis of pesticides in bilaspur district of chhattisgarh with special reference to PL industry limited

    ABSTRACT The present study “Business analysis of pesticide in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh with Special reference to PI Limited.” was undertaken with a view to examine the market share and market potential of leading companies involved in pesticides marketing in Bilaspur, farmers response towards PI product and SWOT analysis. For achieving these objectives, 27 dealers and 60 farmers comprise small (1-2 ha), medium (2 to 4 ha) and large (>4 ha) were selected from all blocks of the Bilaspur district an assigned by PI company. Average and percentage statistical techniques were used to analysis the collected data. The study revealed that on the basis of annual turnover BASF and Bayer companies involved in pesticide marketing together shared major market in Bilaspur district followed by PI which accounted Rs 140 lakh turnover in the Bilaspur district study area. In case of weedicides, Nominee Gold of PI share of total sale is Rs. 4620000 in the Bilaspur district. Market potential of weedicide on the basis of acreage under Paddy at district level estimated to be 6055 liter, maximum and minimum potential estimated for Nominee Gold of PI and Wipsuper of Bayer respectively. Product prices, Brand reputation, timely availability, packing size, durability, product performance etc. are important factors which influence farmer’s decision while purchasing pesticides products of different companies. Use of pesticides on crop production was found to be highly profitable. It suggested that for the popularization of various products of PI Company, the information of product should be disseminated through mass media and sales outlets should be increased at least one in each village to easy availability of pesticide in the study area.
