GENE EFFECT STUDIES IN BIDI TOBACCO
    (AAU, Anand, 1979) B., SASIKUMAR.; JAISANI, B. G.
Bidi tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) is one of the important cash crops of India, especially Gujarat. Considering, the important of tobacco in national economy it is but proper that due attention is paid for its development as well as qualitative and quantitative improvement. But unlike fcv tobacco, information on the genetics of bidi tobacco is very scanty. A sound breeding methodology rests on the knowledge of gene effects governing yield and other agro-morphological characters as well as the genetic variability present in the base material. Hence, this study was undertaken to know the gene effects governing yield and other agro-morphological characters, genetic divergance existing among the bidi tobacco genotypes and genetic advance for cured leaf yield.
