(DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2021) Akshay R. Bhutaraddi; Dr. Akarsh Parihar
The present investigation entitled “Floralmorphology, reproductive biology and cytological studies in different species of cotton (Gossypium species)” was carried out during 2019-21 at Biotechnology laboratory and Farm of the “Centre of Distant Hybridization in Field and Fruit Crops”, Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The research material consisted of diverse species of cotton including 10 wild, 4 cultivated species and 3 interspecific hybrids viz. Gossypium barbadense, Gossypium raimondii, Gossypium triphyllum, Gossypium trilobum, Gossypium captiviridis, Gossypium stocksii, Gossypium davidsonii, Gossypium herbaceum, Gossypium arboreum, Gossypium nelsonii, Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium tomentosum, Gossypium thurberi, Gossypium robinsonii, Gossypium raimondii × Gossypium barbadense (ISH-P1), Gossypium raimondii × Gossypium barbadense (ISH-P2) and Gossypium raimondii × Gossypium barbadense (ISH-P3). The purpose of the investigation was to generate information on variation in floral biology, morphological descriptors and cytology.
