ISOLATION, IDENTIFICATION AND DETECTION OF VIRULENCE FACTOR ASSOCIATED GENES OF SALMONELLA OBTAINED FROM PORK AND SLAUGHTER HOUSE ENVIRONMENT
(AAU, Anand, 2013) Chaudhary, JEETENDRAKUMAR H.; Dr. J. B. Nayak
The present study was carried out in the post graduate laboratory, Department of Veterinary Public Health, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, A.A.U., Anand with intension to find out prevalence of Salmonella spp. from pork and slaughter house environmental samples from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Slaughter house, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. (Gujarat State, India). The pork muscles, tonsils, rectal swab, lymph node, liver, intestine, water, knife swab and butchers hands samples were collected under aseptic precautions and were inoculated into pre-enrichment medium-Buffered peptone water, followed by enrichment in Rappaport-Vassiliadis soybean meal (RVSM) broth and then plating on selective plating media like xylose lysine deoxycholate (XLD) and brilliant green agar (BGA) in the PG laboratory of the department. The colonies showing typical colony characteristics were further characterized on the basis of their morphological and biochemical characteristics. Cultures identified as Salmonella were further subjected to detection of different virulence associated genes and sensitivity to various antibiotics used in treatment.
