GENETIC VARIATION ASSESSMENT, CHARACTER ASSOCIATION AND PATH COEFFICIENT ANALYSIS IN BRINJAL [Solanum melongena L.]
(DEPARTMENT OF GENETICS AND PLANT BREEDING B. A. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ANAND AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY ANAND, 2018) Anjali Solanki; Dr. R. R. Acharya
An experiment comprising of sixty diverse genotypes of brinjal [Solanum melongena L.] was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications during kharif - rabi 2017-18 at Main Vegetable Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand to study the genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, characters association, path coefficient analysis and genetic diversity. Each genotype was represented by accommodating eight plants in single plot with inter and intra row spaced at 90 cm × 75 cm distance, respectively. Observations were recorded on three randomly selected plants for the characters viz., fruit yield per plant, plant height, number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit girth, fruit weight, total phenol, moisture content, total soluble sugars and total soluble solids. However, days to 50 per cent flowering was recorded on plot basis.
