Anand Agricultural University, Anand

Anand Agricultural University (AAU) was established in 2004 at Anand with the support of the Government of Gujarat, Act No.(Guj 5 of 2004) dated April 29, 2004. Caved out of the erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), the dream institution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. K. M. Munshi, the AAU was set up to provide support to the farming community in three facets namely education, research and extension activities in Agriculture, Horticulture Engineering, product Processing and Home Science. At present there seven Colleges, seventeen Research Centers and six Extension Education Institute working in nine districts of Gujarat namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Botad and Chhotaudepur AAU's activities have expanded to span newer commodity sectors such as soil health card, bio-diesel, medicinal plants apart from the mandatory ones like rice, maize, tobacco, vegetable crops, fruit crops, forage crops, animal breeding, nutrition and dairy products etc. the core of AAU's operating philosophy however, continues to create the partnership between the rural people and committed academic as the basic for sustainable rural development. In pursuing its various programmes AAU's overall mission is to promote sustainable growth and economic independence in rural society. AAU aims to do this through education, research and extension education. Thus, AAU works towards the empowerment of the farmers.

    Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. India is the 4thlargest manufacturer of agrochemicals after USA, Japan and China. The agrochemicals market in India is Rs.4500 Crores.Currently, there are 226 pesticide products registered in India. (2011). Pesticides are mainly classified into three categories — Insecticide, Herbicide and Fungicide on basis of the types of pests their control. India is a major exporter of pesticides. Exports in value terms have almost doubled from `27.9 bn in 2006 to `53.2 bn in 2011. Exports have grown at CAGR of 13.48% over the past five years. The key export destination markets are USA, U.K., France, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, South Africa, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Singapore.

    MARKET FEASIBILITY STUDY OF ORGANIC NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT OF PRATHISTA INDUSTRIES LIMITED

    The Indian feed industry is about 35 years old. The industry production of feed is about 3.0 million tonnes. (DAHD, GOI). In India there is 57% gap between demand and availability of concentrate, 56% gap between demand and availability of green fodder and 40% in dry fodder. (Source: Dep. Of Animal Husbandry, dairying, &fisheries, Ministry of Agri., GOI Annual report 2010-11). Prathista industries Ltd. has come up with organic nutritional supplement which helps to increase fat content in milk along with improvement in milk production. The study was carried out during Feb 2012 to May 2012 with the objectives viz. to study the current status of organic nutritional supplements in given sample units as well as to find out the shares of different players in the organic nutritional supplement segments in sample units and to study the buying behavior of customer. The study mainly used primary data to achieve the stipulated objectives. Navsari district of Gujarat is selected for the study.

Major Micro irrigation methods are Drip irrigation, Mini sprinkler irrigation, Sprinkler irrigation and Rain gun irrigation system. The Government is implementing various crop oriented subsidy schemes from its own fund resources besides various Centre-State Shared Schemes, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Externally Aided Projects for the upliftment of farming community

    The study entitled “Market potential of nutritive value added organic fertilizer of Prathista Industries in banana farms in Bharuch District” was taken up with the basic objectives of studying the banana productivity in the Bharuch district before and after use of organic fertilizer, the study of benefit cost analysis of using organic and inorganic fertilizer in isolation and combined form and competitor’s analysis. For the study, both primary as well as secondary data were used to achieve the stipulated objectives. To achieve the objectives, a sample of 200 farmers was selected from Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Hansot, Jhagadia, Valia and Vagra talukas of Bharuch District using semi structured questionnaire
