It called upon the world community that no child and woman should go to bed hungry and human being's physical and mental capabilities should be stunted for want of food. The call for the food security is the outcome of the growing imbalance between demand and supply of food, particularly in poor countries and need to bridge this gap through short and long term measures. The developing countries comprised or more than 70 percent of the world population but contribute only 45 per cent or the world's cereal production. The problem of food security gets accentuated owing to the fact that their access to surplus food is becoming increasingly difficult.
