    In the period of this global competition, it has become very much vital to study the performance of the exports of each and every commodity that is exported. Fresh fruits are such commodities which requires in depth analysis in order to know the current scenario as well as to make future policy decisions. Accordingly, the present study was undertaken to examine the trade pattern of the exports of major fresh fruits.

    PEST SUCCESSION AND ECOFRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF INSECT PESTS OF CABBAGE (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.)

    It was indicative from the studies that aphid, Lipaphis erysimi Kalt. was commenced from second week of January and persisted till first week of March and attained its peak (79.08 aphids/3 leaves) during 3rd week of February (7th SMW). The population of diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L. was initiated from third week of January and persisted till first week of March and attained its peak (8.34 larvae/3 leaves) during 3rd week of February (7th SMW). Head borer, Helicoverpa armigera Hub. was noticed from first week of January and persisted till fourth week of February. It reached its peak (2.23 larvae/3 leaves) during 1st week of February (5th SMW). The population of leaf eating caterpillar, Spodoptera litura Fab. was noticed from first week of January and persisted till fifth week of February and its peak (2.09 larvae/3 leaves) was observed during 1st week of February (5th SMW). The occurrence of coccinellid beetle was started from third week of January to first week of March reached its peak (0.87 beetle/3 leaves) during 3rd week of February (7th SMW). The syrphid fly population was noticed from fourth week of January to first week of March and present throughout the season. It was at its peak (0.73 maggot/3 leaves) during 4th week of February (8th SMW).

    The data on six different biometrical characters of fifty six genotypes/hybrids of okra were collected from Main Vegetable Research Station (MVRS), A.A.U., Anand during kharif season of the year 2018 for the present study entitled “Comparison of selection indices using different weights in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)”. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications. Six characters fruit yield per plant, plant height, number of internodes on main stem, fruit length, fruits per plant and fruit weight were used in the present study.

    Investigations on “population dynamics of sucking pests and management of red spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch infesting Dodi, Leptadenia reticulata (Retzius) Wight and Aruott” were carried out at Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during 2020. Eight biopesticides viz., neem seed kernal extract (NSKE) 5 per cent, neem oil 0.3 per cent, ashwagandha 7.5 per cent, desi cow urine 5 per cent, azadirachtin 0.15 EC, Beauveria bassiana 5% WP, Metarhizium anisopliae 1.15% WP, Neemastra 100 per cent and eight acaricides viz., chlorfenapyr 10 EC, propargite 57 EC, ethion 50 SC, sulphur 80 WDG, spiromesifen 22.9 SC, etoxazole 10 SC, dimethoate 30 EC, and abamectin 1.9 EC were assessed.

    VARIABILITY, CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS FOR GRAIN YIELD AND ITS COMPONENT TRAITS IN WHEAT (Triticum aestivum L.)

    An experiment was conducted to assess genetic variability, correlation, path coefficient analysis, selection indices and genetic divergence for grain yield and its attributes with a set of 48 genotypes of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications during rabi 2020-21 at the Regional Research station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand. The characters studied were days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height (cm), effective tillers per plant, length of main spike (cm), peduncle length of main spike (cm), spikelets per main spike, grains per main spike, 1000 grain weight (g), grain weight per main spike (g), grain yield per plant (g), biological yield per plant (g), harvest index (%), flag leaf area (cm2 ), protein content (%), sedimentation value (ml) and hardness index.

    NITROGEN MANAGEMENT THROUGH ORGANIC SOURCES IN LINSEED (Linum usitatissimum L.) UNDER IRRIGATED CONDITION

    A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat, India during rabi seasons of the years 2019-20 to study the “Nitrogen management through organic sources in linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) under irrigated condition”. The experimental field had an even topography with a gentle slope having good drainage and loamy sand in texture. The soil of the experimental field at 0-15 cm depth was low in organic carbon and available nitrogen, medium in available phosphorus and potassium and slightly alkaline in reaction. The ten treatments of organic sources of nitrogen viz., 100% RDF (60-30-0 NPK kg/ha) (T1), N equivalent to 60 kg/ha through FYM (T2), N equivalent to 60 kg/ha through vermicompost (T3), N equivalent to 60 kg/ha through castor cake (T4), N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through FYM + NPK consortium as seed treatment (T5), N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through vermicompost + NPK consortium as seed treatment (T6), N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through castor cake + NPK consortium as seed treatment (T7), N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through FYM + NPK consortium as soil application (T8), N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through vermicompost + NPK consortium as soil application (T9) and N equivalent to 45 kg/ha through castor cake + NPK consortium as soil application (T10) were tested in Randomized Completely Block Design with 4 replications.

    In India, Citrus is one of the major grown fruit crop after banana and mango which is known for its high nutritive and refreshing value, distinct aroma, delicious taste and also for its medicinal properties. Among all the diseases that attacks citrus crops, citrus canker caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. citri is one of the most devastating disease and of great economic importance. The initial symptoms appeared on leaves in the form of lesions as dark green and later become thickened brown and corky which become raised and blister-like, growing into white or yellow spongy pustules.

    GENETIC VARIABILITY, CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS IN FORAGE BAJRA [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.]

    An experiment comprised of fifty diverse accessions of forage [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] was conducted in randomized complete block design with three replications during Kharif -2020 at Main Forage Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand to study the genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, characters association, path coefficient analysis and genetic diversity. Each genotype was grown in a single row of 5.0 m length with a spacing of 30 × 10 cm, inter row and intra row, respectively. Observations were recorded on five randomly selected plants for the characters viz., plant height at 50 % flowering (cm), tillers per plant, leaves per plant, leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm), stem thickness (cm), leaf: stem ratio, green forage yield per plant (g), dry matter content (%), dry matter yield per plant (g), crude protein content (%), crude protein yield per plant (g), neutral detergent fibre content (%) and acid detergent fibre content (%), whereas, days to 50 per cent flowering was recorded on plot basis.
