    Physiological Manipulation of Bt Cotton Morphoframe by Using Ethylene

    A plant type with a good morphoframe would sustain more boll load with synchronous boll development and boll burst. In Bt cotton, the plant morphoframe doesn't develop fully due to retention of early stage squares. In an attempt to improve Bt plant morphoframe through removing early squares, a field experiment was carried out at the Main Cotton Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Sur at during the Kharif season of year 2008·09, to study "Physiological Manipulation of Bt Cotton Morphoframe by using Ethylene." Twenty treatment combinations were taken in investigation, consisting of five hybrids of Cotton (viz. RCH 2 Bt, JKCH 99 Bt, NCEH 2R Bt, Mallika Bt and non·Bt G.Cot.Hy.lO) and two concentrations of Ethylene (i.e. 30 and 45 ppm) and one time hand removal of squares besides untreated control. The experiment was carried out in FRBD with three replications. applied at square Square removal treatments were initiation (at 45·50 DAS) with theobjective of study the temporal and spatial distribution of fruiting forms in Bt and conventional cotton hybrid and to understand the consequence of altered sink activity On physiology, growth, yield and quality of cotton plant. The response of Cotton to square removal was assessed by measuring various growth, yield and quality contributing characters. The recorded yield result indicated that Bt hybrid JKCH significantly higher values for and yield contributing 99 various growth, characters than other Bt hybrids and non-Bt hybrid. All square removal treatments showed promising effect on various growth, yield and yield contributing characters. However, significant effect was noticed with 45 ppm Ethylene. The plants following square removal by 45 ppm Ethylene attained significant increase in plant height, number of fruiting forms, number of sympodia, boll weight, yield and biomass. Mechanical removal of squares was also found significantly superior to control for most parameters and was statistically at par to 45 ppm Ethylene. On the basis of experimental results, it can be concluded through that manipulation application of 45 of ppm Bt plant Ethylene morphoframe or mechanical removal of squares significantly improved various growth parameters and yield of cotton without impairing quality characters.

    Effect of Osmoprotectants on Growth and Yield of Chickpea Under Unirrigated Condition

    Crop losses caused by water deficit might be reduced by foliar application of chemicals viz. osmoprotectants and antitranspirants. As Chickpea is mainly grown on residual soil moisture , however it shows increment in yield in response to irrigation, therefore a suitable plant material to asses the potentiality of chemical manipulation to prevent crop failures. A fi eld experiment was carried out at the Collage Farm of N.M. Co lle ge of Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during rabi 2003-04 to study "effects of osmoprotectants on grow th and yield of chickpea un der unirrigated condition". Twenty two treatment combination s were tried in the investigation, con s isting of two levels of four c hemical s viz. Glycinebetaine (10 mg/I, 20 mg/I), Putrescine (10 (lmol, 20 (lmol) mM) , PMA (10 ppm, 20 ppm) and KNO, (100 ppm, 200 ppm) and Water spray, besides unirri gated control and irrigated cotnrol and two varieties of chickpea (GG-2 and Dahod Yellow) in factorialrandomized block design with three replications. Aqueous solution of chemicals were applied at 40 DAS and 60 DAS on to the foliage with the objective of ameliorating effects of water stress on growth and yield of chickpea. The response of chickpea to foliar application was assessed by measuring various growth parameters and yield contributing characters. The results indicated that grain yield of chickpea significantly declined due to water deficit which appeared as a result of reduction in growth characters viz., plant height, dry weight of plant, days to 50% flowering and yield attributes viz. pod weight, 100-seed weight, biomass and grain yield per plant, Contrary to this, number of primary branches, number of total filled pods and number of grains per plant recorded increased values under un irrigated condition. All foliar application of chemicals showed promising effect on crop health under unirrigated condition. However, significant effect was noticed with KNO, (200 ppm). The plants following foliar application of KNO, (200 ppm) attained significant increase in plant height, dry weight of plant, number of pods per plant, biomass, grain yield and test weight over unirrigated control. For biomass and grain yield (kg/ha) it was found statistically equivalent to irrigated control. It was noticed that foliar application of KNO, (200 ppm) could compensate 1l.2 per cent yield reduction caused by water deficit.Application of other chemicals and osmoproteclants was not as Glycinebetaine, effective which as KNO J considered as • In alleviating potent stress. osmoprotectant, showed significant improvement in dry weight of plant and test weight, yet it did not project potential yield of chickpea under unirrigated condition

Deepak Fertilzers and Petrochemicals Ltd. is one of the reputed company in fertilizer industry.! completed my project work in Phaltan Taluka area under Satara district. Phaltan area is irrigated due to canal from Veer dam. Major crops of that area are Sugarcane, Banana, onion etc. As simple irrigation facilities are available despite all other conditions farmers apply more fertilizers to increase the production.The project title is "STUDY OF PROMOTIONAL STRATEGIES AND SATISFACTION LEVEL OF FARMERS FOR SPECIALITY FERTILIZER PRODUCTS OF DEEPAK FERTILIZER"The project was carried out under the guidance of company guide Mr Pradeep Bakshi, Marketing Manager and faculty guide Dr.Alpesh Leua, Assistant Professor, IABM NAU(Navsari), Gujarat.
