Studies on the effect of fertilizers on the growth, yield and quality of oil of citronellla
(Division of Agronomy, Agriculture college and research institute Vellayani , Trivandrum, 1966) Ravindranathan Pillay, G; KAU; Madhavan Nair, K
The present investigation was undertaken at the agriculture college and research institute , Vellayani during 1964-66 to study the influence of fertilizers on growth yield and quality of oil in citronella. The effect of nutrients nitrogen and potach at three level each and phosphorus and calcium two levels each were studied in a mixed confounded factorial experimnt , in randomised Block design.

Studies on the performance of five varieties of cowpea (Vigna sinencis Savi.) and their response to nitrogen and phosphate fertilization
(Division of Agronomy, Agricultural college & reseach institute Vellayani, Trivandrum, 1966) Ravindran Nair, R; KAU; George, C M
A field experiment was laid out in the farm attached to the agricultural college and research , Vellayani, during 1965-66 to study the effect of nitrogen and phosphate fertilization on five varieties of cowpea and to determine the best variety, suited to the local conditions . The varieties tried were , new era, M.S .9314, African, C4 and the local. The fertilizer treatments comprised two levels of nitrogen , vis, 0,30,60 and 90 kg./ha.

Nutritional status of soils and the incidence of bunchy top disease of bananas (Musa species) Part V Effect of combined application of calcium and magnesium to soil on the ratio of calcium oxide/magnesium oxide in the plant and its relation to bunchy top infection
(Division of Agronomy, Agricultural College & Research Institute, Vellayani, 1967) Vikraman Nair, R; KAU; Nair, C. K. N
The experiment to study the effect of combination of calcium and magnesium application to soil on the calcium oxide/magnesium oxide ratio in the plant and on the bunchy topdisease of banaa, was laid out under semi-field conditions. Calcium oxide and magnesium oxide were applied in the ratios 3:1 and 6:1 at two levels of magnesium 0.05 and 0.10 per cent by weight of soil. Uniform levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in all treatments were given by application of equalquantities of fertilizers. No organic manure was added, to avoid too many uncertain factors which might have influenced the behaviour of calcium and magnesium in the soil and absorption by the plants. The concentration of the insect inoculum was maintained at a uniform level , by releasing infective sphids at the rate of 25 each . Inoculation was done four months after planting. To avoid natural infection before inoculation, periodical sprays of parathion 0.01 per cent had been given as a regular practice.

Preliminary studies on the nitrogen potassium boron and molybdenum requirements of cowpea (V gna s nens s SAVI) variety new era
(Division of Agronomy, Agricultural College & Research Institute, Vellayani, 1967) Vijayakumar, N; KAU; George, C M
A field experiment was laid out in the farm attached to the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Vellayani during 1967 to study the effect of nitrogen, potassium, boron and molybdenum on cowpea variety , 'New Era'. The compared three levels of nitrogen ,0,10 and 20kg. per hectre, 3 levels of potassium 0,20 and 40 kg. per hectare, 2 levels of boron as 0 and 10kg. Borax per hectare and two levels of molydenum as 0 and 1 kg. Sodium molybdate per hectare.

Studies on the response of N P and K in conjunction with C2 on the growth, yield and quality of tapioca (Manihot utilissima Pohl) var "Malayan-4"
(Division of Agronomy, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Vellayani, 1967) Gopala Krishna Pillai, K; KAU; George, C M
An experiment was conducted in the red loam soils of the central farm attached to the Agricultural College and Research Institute , Vellayani during the year 1966-1967 , to study the response of graded doses of nitrogen (50, 100 and 150 kg per hectare) phosphorus (0,50 and 100 kg per hectare), Potash (100,150 and 200 kg per hectare) and calcium (0,600 and 1200 kg per hectre) in factorial combinations, on the growth , yield and quality of a popular improved variety of tapioca , "Malayan-4". A 3 confounded factorial experiment was laid out, with 81 treatment combinations
