Studies on Genetic Variability Parameters for Agro-morphological and Physiological Traits in Clusterbean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.]
(College of Agriculture, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, 2022) Devi Lal Choudhary; Dr. N.K. Sharma
Clusterbean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub.] (2n=14) is an arid legume extensively grown for seed production and also for vegetable, forage and green manure. Clusterbean is said to be originated from somewhere in Africa but now it is extensively cultivated in Southern Asia. It is expected to be developed from African Species Cyanmopsis senegalesis. The crop is cultivated broadly in India, Indonesia, Pakistan, parts of Central Africa and in the arid South Western United States to tap its industrial potential, specifically for the extraction of gum from guar seed. In India, this crop is mostly cultivated in arid and semi-arid areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana and other states.

Characterization and Evaluation of Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] Germplasm for Agro-economic Traits during Summer Season of Arid Zone
(College of Agriculture, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, 2019) DEVENDRA CHANDEL; N.K. Sharma
Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] is the most important pulse crop in India after chickpea and pigeonpea. Mungbean is well known pulse crop of Asian countries. It is known by various names in India as moong, mungbean but the name green gram is more common. It belongs to family Leguminaceae, subfamily Papilionaceae, genus Vigna, species radiata and its chromosome number is 2n=2x=22. The genome size of mungbean is 579 Mb. Mungbean is a native of South Asia (India). Vigna radiata var. sublobata is the probable progenitor of mungbean. It is an also important short summer season grain legume, well suited to small land holder production under adverse climatic conditions & commonly used in Indian cuisine (Arumuganathan and Earle, 1991).
