EFFECT OF TRAINING TECHNIQUES ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF CAPSICUM UNDER PROTECTED CULTIVATION (Capsicum annuum var. grossum Sendt.)
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2024) Gawade Akshta Dadasaheb; Chandanshive, A.V.
The present investigation entitled “Effect of training techniques on yield and quality of capsicum under protected cultivation (Capsicum annuum var. grossum Sendt.)” was conducted during kharif-2022 at Krishi Vighyan Kendra, Baramati to study the interaction effect of three training techniques (Two shoots, Four shoots, Unprunedcontrol) combined with two capsicum hybrids Bachata (Yellow) and Inspiration (Red) on growth, yield and quality parameters under ventilated net polyhouse. The data were analysed statistically by using Factorial Completely Randomized Design with 4 replication and 6 treatments. Among that three training techniques, the data revealed that the two shoots training techniques were significantly affected the plant growth and flowering characteristics in terms of plant height, number of days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering etc. When plants left un-pruned (control) recorded higher number of fruits per plants, but the fruit yield per plant, per plot and per hectare was higher in four shoots training techniques.

EVALUATION OF CHILLI HYBRIDS (Capsicum annuum L.)
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Bochare Shubhangi Vilas; Patil, D.D.
Among all ten hybrids and one check maximum fruit length was recorded in hybrid RHRCHHYB-5 (10.10 cm), The maximum fruit breadth was recorded in hybrid RHRCHHYB-9 (1.19 cm) and the maximum fruit weight was recorded in RHRCHHHYB-9 which is at par with RHRCHHYB-5 (4.53 g). The maximum number of fruits per plant was recorded in hybrid RHRCHHYB-5 (283.08). The highest yield per plant was recorded in hybrid RHRCHHYB-5 (1.27kg). The highest yield per plot was recorded in RHRCHHYB-5 (25.92kg). The highest yield per hectare was recorded in RHRCHHYB-5 (359.99 q/ha) which is at par with RHRCHHYB-1(340.41q/ha), RHRCHHYB-9 (328.19q/ha), RHRCHHYB-10 (325.55q/ha) and RHRCHHYB-8 (308.33q/ha).

Evaluation of Brinjal hybrids for roasting purpose (Solanum melongena L.)
    (MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Varshini M S; Dahatonde, K.N.
The present investigated entitled “Evaluation of brinjal hybrids for roasting purpose (Solanum melongena L.) was conducted during the period of kharif, 2022 at All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops, Department of Horticulture, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with 18 treatments with two replications. The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the different brinjal hybrids for growth, flower character, yield, qualitative character, bio-chemical characters and sensory qualities. The analysis of variance revealed that mean sum of squares due to hybrids was significant for all the characters like plant height (cm), number of primary branches, number of secondary branches, days to first flowering, days to 50% flowering, number of fruits per cluster, number of days to first picking, fruit span (days),number of fruits per plant, fruit length (cm),fruit diameter (cm), fruit weight (g), pericarp thickness (cm), yield per plant (kg), yield per plot (kg), yield per hectare (q/ha),total soluble solids(ºbrix), moisture (%), dry matter (%), and sensory characters like colour, taste, texture, mouthfeel and overall acceptability.

RESPONSE OF MUSKMELON GRAFTED ON PUMPKIN, BOTTLE GOURD AND SPONGE GOURD FOR GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Tekkam Shirisha; Joshi, V.R.
The lowest (7.48 %) incidence of downy mildew was noted with R6S2 (Commercial hybrid (S2) grafted on Phule Komal) and lowest (6.56 %) incidence of powdery mildew was observed in R6S1 (Commercial hybrid (S1) grafted on Phule Komal) in kharif. The lowest (7.65 %), (5.24 %) leaf miner incidence was noted with R2S3 (Commercial hybrid (S3) grafted on Arka Suryamukhi) in both kharif and summer. It is concluded that Muskmelon grafted on Pumpkin and Sponge gourd were found suitable for better growth and yield as it recorded maximum vine length, number of branches, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, yield/plant, yield/plot and yield/ hectare. From the above points it can be concluded that Muskmelon scions were found highly compatible with Pumpkin and Sponge gourd rootstocks when compared with Bottle gourd and control.

EVALUATION OF BOTTLE GOURD [Lagenaria siceraria (Mol.) Standl.] HYBRID FOR GROWTH AND YIELD
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Chaudhari Rushikesh Vinod; Kshirsagar, D.B.
The maximum TSS was recorded in hybrid T6: Pusa Samruddhi × Samrat (4.58 ºBrix). The maximum total sugar was recorded in hybrid T8: Pusa Navin × NDBG - 104 (5.99 %). The maximum reducing sugar was recorded in hybrid T8: Pusa Navin × NDBG -104 (5.39 %). The maximum non-reducing sugar was recorded in hybrid T15: RHRBG-38 × BGS -54 (0.61 %). Based on the mean performance, the hybrids T18: BGS-54 × Samrat, T10: Pusa Navin × Samrat and T22: Samrat × NDBG-104 were found superior among all the hybrids for most of the characters.
