MODIFICATION AND ERGONOMIC EVALUATION OF OKRA CUTTER- HOLDER
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Hukare Bhushan Manohar; Nalwade, S.M.
Traditionally okra pods are harvested by hand picking or using cutting tool. The okra pods have thorny bristles cause inflammation to the skin of workers if harvested by bare hands. In severe situations, people skin has experienced itching, blisters or allergic responses on exposure to the pods for an extended period of time during a harvest. The higher productivity with less stress and physiological costs could be achieved by the ergonomically modified agricultural tools. The various tools developed by earlier researchers were tested ergonomically. Straight blade okra cutter, curve blade okra cutter and old okra cutter-holder were tested in the laboratory and on the field. The results revealed that the okra needed to hold while harvesting by using these cutters as well as required more pressure to cut the okra. Moreover, the okra cutters were unable to snap mature and large okra. In order to reduce the aforementioned issues, the design of okra cutter-holder was modified, to enable harvest of any size of okra without touching the okra pods. The designed tool along with the conventional straight blade okra plucker, curve blade okra cutter and old okra cutter-holder were compared through laboratory as well as field tests.

DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF POWER OPERATED MAIZE DEHUSKER CUM SHELLER
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Kinge Akshay Ravindra; Bastewad, B.T.
Maize (Zea mays L.) is grown all the three seasons throughout the India. India’s rank is seventh in world maize production Maharashtra’s rank is fourth in India’s maize production. The average productivity of maize in India is 2.43 t.ha-1. The area under maize cultivation and production of maize in India is continuously increases. Traditionally maize was dehusked and shelled manually which are very tedious and drudgeries and also labour intensive. High capacity power operated maize sheller and whole crop maize sheller are available in market but they are costly and in India more than 75 per cent farmers belong to small and marginal category. The present study was undertaken with the objectives of development of power operated maize dehusker cum sheller (operated by 2 HP electric motor) and study of performance evaluation of developed machine. Engineering properties of maize variety Rajarshi and cost estimation of developed machine also been conducted in this study. Design calculations of various components of this machine are completed according to standard references and I. S. codes. The design of machine was made by AutoCAD software. Fabrication and performance evaluation of machine was carried out at AICRP on FIM Dr.. ASCAET MPKV Rahuri. The principle of dehusking and shelling is shearing and impact action between concave and dehusking cum shelling cylinder.

DEVELOPMENT OF BASIN SEEDER WITH WATERCOURSE ATTACHMENT
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Naik Shivam Hanmant; Kadam, P.B.
Onion (Allium cepa), also known as bulb onion, belongs to the Alliceae family. Various agronomic practices are employed in the cultivation of onions, including ploughing, harrowing, constructing ridges and furrows, as well as the creation of basins and watercourse channels. There are four primary planting techniques used for onions: raising seedlings in a nursery and then transplanting them into the field, planting bulbs directly in the field, employing the broadcasting technique and planting by sets. In addition, the market offers a variety of onion sowing machines, such as precision vacuum seeders, drum seeders, and transplanters. Typically, basin formation, sowing, and watercourse channel preparation are separate operations in the field. However, these separate operations have certain drawbacks, including being labor-intensive, expensive, time-consuming, and potentially harmful to the soil due to the increased number of tractor passes. As a result, there was a recognized need to develop a basin seeder with a watercourse attachment capable of performing three critical operations like basin listing, seeding and watercourse channel creation in a single pass of a tractor.

INVESTIGATION ON AUTONOMOUS NAVIGATION OF ROBOTIC SPRAYER FOR MANGO AND GUAVA ORCHARDS
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Raut Punam Dilip; Nalawade, S.M.
In agriculture, one of the most important activities are the application of fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides by spraying operation. For the orchard and vineyard, it was difficult to apply spray on the whole area of the plant because of the shape and size change from plant to plant. It was very difficult in old times when no proper sprayers design for orchard spraying. Precision spraying is a method used to reduce the losses during pesticides application, reducing chemical residues in the soil.

DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF POWER OPERATED GROUNDNUT DECORTICATOR CUM GRADER
(MPKV, Rahuri, 2023) Shinde Vijay Sudam; Bastewad, T.B.
Groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.) is a peculiar and significant legume oil seed crop in India. Its shelling is done either manually by hand, pedal and power operated decorticators. Hand shelling of groundnut gives the higher whole kernel count but it is a slow, time consuming and labour demanding and have no facility to separate kernels. Whereas some power operated decorticators have these facilities but they are costlier and also, they are huge in size which is not affordable for small and marginal farmers also they are not provided with grading mechanism. So, the power operated groundnut decorticator cum grader was developed in the department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Dr A.S.C.A.E.T, Rahuri.
