    BIOEFFICACY AND RESIDUES OF IMIDACLOPRID AND SPIROMESIFEN IN/ON CUCUMBER (Cucumis sativus L.)

    A total of 55 samples were collected from different markets of Rahuri, Akole and Phaltan and Pune markets which belonged to different districts of Ahmednagar, Satara and Pune districts. These samples were brought to Pesticide laboratory, AINP on Pesticide residue, M.P.K.V Rahuri, for pesticide residue analysis during January to March 2023. Out of a total of 55 samples anlaysed 7 samples were detected with the residues of acephate and monocrotophos, were below MRL. The study conducted on dissipation pattern of imidacloprid revealed that mean initial residues of Imidacloprid 70 % WG @ 24.5 and 30.6 g a.i./ha were 1.52 and 1.9 mg/ kg on cucumber fruits and dissipated to BQL at 7 th and 10 th day after second spray. Half life value calculated for Imidacloprid were 1.18 and 1.44 days for recommended and 1.25 times the recommended dose, respectively.

    EVALUTION OF BIORATIONAL INSECTICIDES AGAINST MAJOR PEST COMPLEX OF CUCUMBER (Cucumis sativus L.)

    Impact of different sequential strategies on predatory coccinellids in cucumber showed that the treatment with spraying of Beauveria bassiana @ 5 g/l fb Pongamia oil 0.5% fb Metarhizium anisopliae @ 5 g/l recorded significantly higher predatory coccinellid population (3.45 grubs/plant) as compared to remaining other treatments. The highest marketable yield of cucumber was recorded in the treatment with spraying of Lecanicillium lecanii @ 5 g/l fb NSE 5% fb Metarhizium anisopliae @ 5 g/l (220.00 q/ha) with ICBR (1:27.07). Whereas, the treatment with spraying of Lecanicillium lecanii @ 5g/l fb Pongamia oil 0.5% fb Beauveria bassiana @ 5 g/l was found at par with this treatment in respect of yield and recorded 212.50 quintal per hectare yield of cucumber fruits with ICBR (1:19.67). The findings mentioned are grounded in outcomes of a single-season experiment which may be considered as mere indication to establish conclusive results, it is essential to undertake further investigation.

    ECO-FRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF MAJOR INSECT PESTS OF COTTON

    The studies on population dynamics of sucking pests in Bt cotton during Kharif 2020 and 2021 revealed distinct trends. In 2020, aphids reached its peak during the 48th MW, jassids in the 31st MW, thrips in the 30th MW and whiteflies in the 42nd MW. Whereas during 2021, thrips reached its peak during 36th MW and whiteflies in the 46th MW. Data pertaining to natural enemies reveal that during Kharif-2020, coccinellids population ranged from 0.30 to 3.74 per plant, reached its peak during 48th MW. Population of C. carnea varied from 0.12 to 0.76 per plant and reached its peak in the 39th MW, while spiders ranged from 0.12 to 3.44 per plant with peak population recorded during 46th MW. In 2021, coccinellids fluctuated from 0.16 to 3.82 per plant and reached its peak during 46th MW. C. carnea ranged from 0.08 to 0.54 per plant and spiders ranged from 0.08 to 3.44 per plant, reached its peak during the 46th MW.

    ECO-FRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF FALL ARMYWORM, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. SMITH) IN MAIZE

    Data obtained from the field experiment on efficacy of biopesticides revealed that standard check chlorantraniliprole 18.5 % SC was found most effective and significantly reduced plant damage, larval population and leaf damage score with 18.15 per cent, 0.86 larvae per plant and 2.60, respectively. Among the biopesticides B. thuringiensis 0.5 %WP was highly effective in reducing plant damage (28.78 %), larval population (1.03 larvae/ plant) and leaf damage score (3.31) followed by M. rileyi 1.15 % WP and M. anisopliae 1.15 % WP. The highest grain yield (65.42q/ha) was registered in the plot treated with chlorantraniliprole 18.5 % SC. However, B. thuringiensis @ 2g/l was the most economical treatment by recording highest ICBR 1:4.45 followed by M. rileyi @ 5g/l with ICBR of 1:3.31. The whorl application of poison baits revealed that application of bait GF -4867@ 0.1 % was proved most effective in reducing plant damage (17.40 %), larval population (0.83 larvae/plant) and leaf damage score (2.42) followed by bait of chlorantraniliprole 18.5 % SC. The highest grain yield (75.56 q/ha) was registered by GF-4867@ 0.1 per cent. Whereas, highest incremental cost benefit ratio (1:2.44) was observed in the bait of chlorantraniliprole 18.5 % SC @ 1.88 ml/kg.

    EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT BIOPESTICIDES AGAINST PIGEONPEA POD BORER COMPLEX

    The field experiment on pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan, L. Millsp.) entittled “Efficacy of different biopesticides against pigeonpea pod borer complex” was conducted at Pulses Improvement Project, MPKV, Rahuri during Kharif, 2021. The experiment was layed out in Randomized Block Design with nine treatments and three replication with view to find out the effecacy of different biopesticides against pigeonpea pod borers i.e. Helicoverpa armigera, Exelastis atomosa, Melanagromyza obtusa and Maruca vitrata. The performance of each treatment was judged on the basis of survival larval population of pod borer, per cent pod infestation, grain yield and ICBR. In each treatment, three sprays were given at an interval of 15 day initiating the first spray at 50 per cent flowering.

    EVALUATION OF SOME NEWER INSECTICIDES AGAINST Helicoverpa armigera Hub. AND THEIR RESIDUES IN PEA (Pisum sativum L.)

    An investigation entitled “Evaluation of some newer insecticides against Helicoverpa armigera Hub. and their residues in pea, (Pisum sativum L.)” was undertaken at Instructional Farm and AINP on Pesticide Residues, Department of Agril. Entomology, Post Graduate Institute, M.P.K.V., Rahuri. Samples of pea collected from local markets of Akole (Ahmednagar), Narayangoan (Pune), Phaltan (Satara) were analysed for residues following the validated QuChERS multiresidue method. Out of 75 samples, 67 samples did not record detectable residues and 08 samples were recorded with insecticide residues. None of the samples were recorded with insecticide residues above MRL values prescribed by FSSAI. Dimethoate (08 samples) was detected in all the positive samples from all three locations. The range of dimethoate residues was 0.02 mg/kg to 0.09 mg/kg.

    STORABILITY, COMPATIBILITY AND BIOEFFICACY OF Metarhizium anisopliae (METCHNIKOFF) 1.15 % WP

    The present investigations on the research entitled, “Storability, compatibility and bioefficacy of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metchnikoff) 1.15 % WP” were carried out during 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 at MPKV Rahuri. The pure culture of Metarhizium anisopliae was maintained at Biocontrol laboratory, MPKV, Rahuri on Potato dextrose agar slants. Studies on storability of Metarhizium anisopliae with different moisture levels was conducted at ambient temperature and the results of the study indicates that Metarhizium anisopliae can be stored safely up to 8 months when packed at a moisture content of 8 to 12 per cent. Metarhizium anisopliae stored at moisture level of 28 per cent showed least storability of 5 months only. Storability of Metarhizium anisopliae with different moisture content in decreasing order is 28 % 150 days > 24 % 165 days > 20 % 180 days > 16 % 210 days > 12 % 240 days and 8 % 240 days.
