A sample size of 120 farmer respondents from two blocks of Kangra district were selected for the study. Awareness, knowledge and problems of the farmer were assessed for governmental schemes namely PM-KISAN, PMFBY, KCC, Saur Sinchayee Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Khet Sanrakshan Yojana which were selected on the basis of highest number of registered beneficiaries. The study revealed that large number of respondents that is 95.83 per cent were aware of PM-KISAN, followed by 50.83 per cent who were aware of KCC, 34.16 per cent who were aware of PMFBY, 33.33 per cent of who were aware of Mukhya Mantri Khet Sanrakshan Yojana, and 10.83 per cent were aware of Saur Sinchayee Yojana. The study further indicated that the majority of respondents had knowledge about objectives/purposes and procedures of the selected schemes. The present study also showed that among the selected schemes (PM-KISAN, PMFBY, KCC, Saur Sinchayee Yojana and Mukhya Mantri Khet Sanrakshan Yojana) majority of the problems faced by farmers were unavailability of timely benefits, lack of awareness and lack of support from family members, selfish motive of agriculture officer and negative attitude of concerned officials were the minor problems faced by them. The study suggested that there is a need of local level awareness toward governmental agriculture schemes and strong review and monitoring system should be made by government to ensure effective implementation of the schemes.
