ArticleItem Open Access COMPARATIVE EGG PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF KHAKI CAMP-BELL AND DESI DUCKS UNDER INTENSIVE SYSTEM OF REARING(1991) Sheriff, FR; Kathaperumal, V; Srinivasan, G; TANUVASForty ducks each of Khaki Campbell and Desi breeds were divided randomly into four replicates and reared on deeplitter from 22 weeks of age. The data on egg production, egg weight and feed consumption were collected from 24 to 48 weeks of age and the feed efficiency was calculated.ArticleItem Open Access EFFECT OF DIETARY ENERGY AND PROTEIN LEVELS ON PERFORMANCE AND READY-TO-COOK YIELD OF WHITE LEGHORN MALE CHICKS(1981) Sheriff, FR; Kothandaraman, P; Vedhanayagam, K; Sethumadhavan, V; TANUVASThe increased demand for egg-type punet chicks in the recent years has resulted in the stagnation of the male chicks at hatcheries. However, discarding the male chicks at day old stage will cause huge monetary loss for the Poultry Industry. Hence profitable means of raising these surplus male chicks have been attt?lllpted by many workers (Haque and Agarwala 1975, Taylor et (/1, 1975. Haleem et al. 1978, and Narahari et al 1980). It is well known that male chicks grow faster than females and the nutrient requirements may differ in order to g>!t maximum growth at particular age. No standard recommendations are available pertaining to dietary protein and metabolizable energy requirements of these birds for profitable meat production. Hence an experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding different dietary levels of crude protein and metabolizable energy on performance and economics of White Leghorn male chicks.ArticleItem Open Access PERFORMANCE AND MEAT QUALITY OF WHITE LEGHORN MALE CHICKS ON DIFFERENT DIETARY TREATMENTS(1981) Sheriff, FR; Vedhanayagam, K; Kothandaraman, P, et al.,; TANUVASFour hundred, one day old White Leghorn 'Forsgate' male chicks were divided into four treatment groups and fed with diet containing 23 or 27 percent protein with 2600 or 2800 Kcal. ME/kg till ] 0 weeks of age to study the body we ght gain, feed consumption, feed efficiency, ready-to-cook yield, giblet yield, edible yield and chemical composition of the edible yield.
