ArticleItem Open Access A CASE REPORT OF NEBOTHIAN CYST IN A CROSSBHED COW(2000) Devanathan, TG; Asokan, SA; Rajasundaram, RC; Pattabiraman, SR; TANUVASNebothian cyst or Cervical Cyst were rare in occurrence in cattle. These cyst were observed usually on the external os and they were of thin walled and covered only by mucus membrane. (Roberts 1971; Laing et al, 1988). ln this article the management of a case of Nebothian cyst has been reported.ArticleItem Open Access COMPARATIVE STUDY ON CERTAIN BIPHYSICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERS OF SEMEN IN CROSS BRED BULLS(1986) Asokan, SA; Pattabirman, SR; Venkataswamy, V; TANUVASSpermatozoal motility, concentration, viability and morphology arc the parameters commonly used to assess the quality of semen, since they are known to be closely related with fertility (Pal, 1957). Seminal plasma contain several biochemical constituents, estimation of which was considered to indicate functional activity of epididymis and accessory glands. Conditions like occlusion of excurrent duct (Gassner and Hopwood, 1953) and functional derangement of accessory glands (Doichevd et al., 1978) were observed to alter the fructose, citric acid, free amino acid, Carnitine and Glyceryl phosphoryl choline levels in seminal plasma (Carter et al. 1981). Bora et al {1982) have correlated the different microsocopical and biochemical characteristics of semen in normal bulls Similar comparative study in cross bred bulls was carried out and the results are presented in this paper.ArticleItem Open Access COMPARISON OF SURGICAL AND LAPAROSCOPIC EMBRYO RECOVERY IN BARBARI GOATS(2001-12) Dhandapani, S; Asokan, SA; Ganesh, TN; Pattabiraman, SR; TANUVASTwelve non-pregnant, healthy; parous, cyclical Barbari breed of goats were randomly divided into two equal groups namely Groups l, utilized for surgical embryo recovery and Group ll utilized for Laparoscopic embryo recovery. All the 12 goats were synchronized with Norgestomel ear implant (3 mg) plus PGF2ArticleItem Open Access Cyclopia In A Kid(1990) Asokan, SA; Devanathan, TG; Seshagiri, VN; TANUVASA pluriparous nearing parturiant Doe was brought to the Obstetrics ward with a history of straining for more than 6 hours. Vaginal examination revealed dilated cervix with the fore-limbs of the foetus in the vaginal passage. On traction of the limb, a live cyclopia kid was delivered with the following anatomical features.ThesisItem Open Access EXPRESSION PROFILE OF INTERFERON STIMULATED GENES (isgs) IN PERIPHERAL BLOOD FOR EARLY PREGNANY DIAGNOSIS IN BUFFALOES(TANUVAS, 2016) Pradeep Nag, BS; Arunmozhi, N; TANUVAS; Asokan, SA; Vijayarani, KThe present research aims at studying the expression profile of Interferon stimulated genes (ISGs) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of buffaloes and to correlate the expression pattern of ISGs with early pregnancy in buffaloes. A total of 58 buffaloes were selected and divided into 2 groups viz. primiparous and pleuriparous. All the experimental buffaloes were synchronized using TRIU B®, PGF2ɑ and GnRH. ln both the groups 10 buffaloes were not inseminated and remained as control and rest of the buffaloes were inseminated.ArticleItem Open Access FREEMARTIN SYNDROME lN A CROSSBRED HElFER(1994) Nainar, AM; Asokan, SA; Subramanian, A; TANUVASFreemartin syndrome in cattle is characterised by sex chromosome chimerism, 60 XX / 60 XY, restricted lo the haemopoietic and possibly the gonadal tissue (Marcum, 1974).ArticleItem Open Access A Note On Foetal Ascites With Mild Anasarca In Buffalo(1990) Devanathan, TG; Asokan, SA; Veerapandian, C; Seshagiri, VN; TANUVASA pluriparous buffalo with the history of vaginal bleeding sinoe one week with restlessness was admitted as inpatient in Madras Veterinary College Hospital. The general condition of the animal was fair. Body temperature was slightly elevated. Vaginal examination revealed fully dilated cervix with the foetus impacted against the pelvic inlet and digital manipulation revealed highly oedematous foetus with mild anasarca (Fig. 1). The foetus was in posterior longitudinal presentation, dorso-sacral position and the hind legs wedged against the pelvic inlet.Book chapterItem Open Access NUTRITION Vs REPRODUCTION - MYTH AND REALITY(2014) Asokan, SA; Reena, D; Sankaran, VM; Vennila, C; Senthilkumar, T; TANUVASThe Indian bovine population is 304.42 million out of which 4.34% (13.20 million) are reared in Tamil Nadu (18th Livestock census, Animal Husbandry Department, 2007). Among the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a forerunner in milk production producing around 68.34 lakh tonnes of milk. This is primarily due to the high crossbred dairy cattle in total dairy cattle population has increased from 28.67 per cent in 1997 to 62.95 per cent in 2007 (Policy note, 2012-13).ArticleItem Open Access Study on the efficacy of progesterone substitution therapy in Repeat Breeding cows(1999) Devanathan, TG; Asokan, SA; Rajasundaram, RC; Pattabiraman, SR; TANUVASEmbryonic mortality after breeding was considered to be the major cause for the reproductive failure. Sreenan and Disken (1985) obsen/ed that 40 percent of the fertilized ova were lost due to embryonic mortality. It has been inferred that the spontaneously occuring asynchrony between the embryo and metemal enviomment was the prime cause for the embryonic mortality. Maurer and Echtemkamp 1982) Measures commonly practiced to achieve and maintain “Meternal synchrony" are administration of either progesterone or luteinizing hormone. Hence in the present study repeat breeding cows were subjected to progesterone therapyand the efficacy of the therapy is discussed.ArticleItem Open Access THERAPEUTIC MANAGEMENT OF VAGINITIS IN A MARE(2011) Raja, S; Balasubramanian, S; Asokan, SA; Sathiamoorthy, T; Rangasamy, S; TANUVASA case of vaginitis in a mare and its effective therapeutic management is described.
