ThesisItem Open Access Effect of organic and inorganic sources of nutrients on soybean (Glycine max (L). Merrill) varieties(Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, 2014-05-22) Abdul Aziz Halimyar; Gokhale, D. N.Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) a native crop of China is the number one oilseed crop of the world and belongs to family Fabaceae. Soybean has been accredited as a principal food crop since long time that produces 2-3 times more high quality protein yield per hectare than other pulses and cholesterol free oil. Globally, soybean is grown on 102 million ha with production of 236 million tones and productivity 2310 kg ha'1. In India, it is cultivated on 10.69 million ha with the production and productivity of 12.67 million tonnes and 1185 kg ha'1, respectively. In Maharashtra, it is grown on 3.21 million ha with production and productivity of 3.99 million tonnes and 1243 kg ha'1, respectively. A field investigation entitled “Effect of Organic and Inorganic sources of nutrients on Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) Varieties” was conducted during Kharif 2013 at P.G. Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, VNMKV, Parbhani. The experiment was laid out in FRBD design with three replications wherein main plots were assigned to two cultivars i.e. MAUS 71 and MAUS 158 and sub plots to eight nutrient levels viz. (FO 75 % RDF, (Fa) 75 % RDF+ FYM 5 t/ha'1 (F3) 100 % RDF, (F4) 125 % RDF+FYM 101 ha'1, (Fs) 125 % RDF, (F6) 125 % RDF + FYM 5 t ha'1, (F7) FYM 101 ha'1 and (Fg) Absolute control. The soil was clayey in texture, low in nitrogen, medium in available phosphorous and organic carbon, high in available potash and slightly alkaline reaction. Sowing was done undertaken on 24th June, 2013. From the experimental result, it can be concluded that the soybean variety MAUS-71 was found productive and profitable as compared to MAUS-158. As regards to economics, the application of 30:60:30 NPK kg ha'1 was found profitable as compared to other treatments.
